History of the Magi's cheeses

A lifelong story, dedicated to a passion for the art of cheese and experimentation with taste.
Andrea takes care of every form from the moment he arrives in the company, throughout the process to make it a true gastronomic excellence.


After participating in the Taste in Florence, De' Magi flew to Paris for the Salon du Fromage: the most prestigious international fair in the world.

It was an extraordinary experience and an opportunity to make the brand known on the global scene.

The consensus and appreciation received are a source of pride for us and a stimulus for the challenges that await us.


May. Development of our internalization process towards foreign markets, where we currently are
present in the following European countries: Spain, Germany, Luxembourg. Non-Europeans such as Norway, UK,
Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, USA, Hong Kong and Japan.

March. Sixth stop of the #demagicelebrationtour in Sorrento.

February. We are taking part in the sixteenth edition of Taste in Florence.

During the #fuoridiTaste, 4 stages of the #demagicelebrationtour take place, again in Florence.


December. First Stop #demagicelebrationtour - London.

November. De'Magi's Gorgonzola Dolce DOP wins second place as Best Cheese in the world and first among Italians at the 2022 World Cheese Awards in London. To end the event in style we also brought home a bronze medal with Gorgonzola Piccante DOP and another gold medal with Cocco La Mela.

October. Tenth year since the foundation of the De'Magi Caves.

September. We are at B2Cheese, the international dairy fair dedicated to sector operators - Bergamo. At the "Ombra della Madonnina" Competition we obtained the Quality diploma for Pinetta cheeses and White Lady and Superior Quality with Viola Viola.

April. We are at "Formaggi in Villa" - Cittadella, Padua.


At the World Cheese Awards - held in Oviedo, Spain - we collected three wonderful medals: bronze with Ira, silver with Zefferina and gold with our beloved Caprone.

December. At the World Cheese Awards held in Bergamo, out of three cheeses presented at the competition, all three
go to the podium: Cavallo Nero and Caprone silver medal, Antani gold medal. The competitions in which we participated as members of the Jury are: Modon D'Or (Valle d'Aosta), Trinacria d'Oro (Sicily), Italian Cheese Award (Veneto).


We have exceeded 500 types of cheeses in our assortment, including the cheeses we refine and the national and international selections.

We reach the number of 26 cheeses that have received awards in the last 3 years, some of which even more awards at different competitions.


May. Enthronement of Magi Andrea in the “Guilde Internationale des Fromagers” a prestigious brotherhood that has followers all over the world. And then we participated in the Ubriachi Cheese Festival in San Pietro di Felletto (TV) at the Perenzin Dairy.

March. Our first participation in the international chefs' congress "Identità Golose" in Milan.


June. We participated in Expo 2015 in Milan, at the "Slowfood Theatre" where we held a lesson on the art of cheese refining.


September. Participation as a special guest at the GOD SAVE THE FOOD venue in Milan where the National Final of the Master Bartender Pilsner Urquell was celebrated. Presence at the Casato Prime Donne International Award organized by Donatella Colombini Cinelli.

July. Andrea Magi, ONAF Master Taster (National Organization of Cheese Tasters) and delegate for Siena and Arezzo was elected to the National Council and in turn member of the Executive Commission. A great personal satisfaction in recognition of his passion and his commitment to the world of cheese.

June August. Many people attended important events organized at exclusive venues such as the TWIGA BEACH CLUB, CASTELLO DEL NERO, FOUR SEASONS, GRAND HOTEL VILLA CORA, MASTERPIECES A TABLE, CENNA DEGLI ALLORI AIS, IL BORRO, ENOTECA MARCUCCI, etc...

May. Two cheeses were awarded at the 6th San Lucio Trophy: – the third prize with IL GIOVANE in the fresh pecorino category – the first prize with IL MASCALZONE in the mature pecorino category. Double satisfaction because in the same category two years earlier the first prize was always won with IL CROCCOLO, therefore the success in this category was confirmed as a demonstration of having a high level of quality on multiple types of cheeses.

March. Participation in the TASTE in Florence, at the Leopolda station, followed by great public success. For the second time in Mogliano Veneto, at Villa Braida for “Formaggi in Villa” organized by Alberto Marcomini.

February. ETRA LUCCA, a high-level event dedicated to Italian extra virgin olive oils, Andrea Magi was asked to exhibit and present in a cooking show the characteristics of cheeses and how they can be used in combination with oil in the kitchen.

January. In Rimini, during the RHEX international fair, inside the AMIRA stand, Andrea explained the characteristics and had his cheeses tasted by the most important association in Italy which brings together all the restaurant Maitres.


November. Trip to Holland for two international events, one in Amsterdam "TO TASTE" and the other in Utrecht "GASTRONOMIE" during which some excellent cheeses from De' Magi production were presented.

September. Participation in CHEESE 2013 where the De' Magi company was awarded a double prize: – “Place of good cheese” prize awarded by SlowFood to Andrea Magi “for the research, knowledge and passion demonstrated” – INFINITI BLU 2013 Dedicated National Competition to blue cheeses, a quality award received for PINETTA cheese, a blue goat cheese, which was among the best in the competition.

July. Andrea Magi begins a collaboration with the television channel ALICE TV where he has the opportunity to talk about his work and his cheeses, this will lead him to appear many times in the television program "Casa Alice" hosted by Franca Rizzi and Daniele Persegani. Obviously, in addition to telling them, they will then be used in cooked dishes.

June. Participation in GUSTO CORTINA, at the Hotel de la Poste in Cortina d'Ampezzo, where some latest creations were presented.

May. Andrea participates with his cheeses in ALMA VIVA, at the international cooking school directed by Maestro Gualtiero Marchesi at the Colorno Palace in Parma.


November. Participation in the Culinary section at the MERANO WINE FESTIVAL, creating a cooking show, in the Gourmet Arena describing and tasting 5 of our cheeses.

September. Participation with a stand at CHEESE in Brà (CN) during which with the Tuscan Cigar Club and the Petra Cellars we held a meditation-pairing of Pecorino Croccolo Riserva, Petra Wine and the Tuscan Cigar entitled "We smoked Maremma style".

May. Appointment as ONAF Delegate (National Organization of Cheese Tasters) for the provinces of Arezzo and Siena.

April. Participation in Vinitaly as an event at the stand of Bruna Baroncini's Tenute Toscane company

February. Direction of the ONAF (National Organization of Cheese Tasters) first level course held in Siena.


November. Participation in the Culinary section at the MERANO WINE FESTIVAL

October. OPEN DAY De' Magi, inauguration and guided tour of the aging caves for customers with a guided tasting of 140 cheeses, a unique event!

Participation in BOCCACCESCA in Certaldo: guided tasting together with ANNAMARIA TOSSANI.

May. Andrea Magi Second place in ALMA CASEUS PROFESSIONALS section.

Participation in ALMA CASEUS in the cheese section, winning the Gold medal for the Farmhouse cheese category with GIOIA DEL PASTORE BUCCIATO IN RAW MILK

April. Awarded by the ITALIAN ACADEMY OF HISTORICAL GASTRONOMY as PROVVEDITORE for the research and innovation of dairy products.

March. Participation in the 5th San Lucio di Pandino (CR) trophy, the CROCCOLO pecorino wins the first prize in the category "sheep's cheeses aged over 12 months" and ranks among the top 5 cheeses out of 24 first place winners in the various categories, the only not PDO.


December. The Croccolo pecorino entered in the GROLLA D'ORO Formaggi d'Autore 2010 competition in Saint Vincent with a score of 78/100.

November. Participation in the event organized by the AIGS (Italian Academy of Historical Gastronomy) in Chianciano and Paestum and Cooking Show with Alex Revelli, on the importance of cutting cheese.

September. The sheep's blue cheese entered the national INFINITI BLU competition in Gorgonzola, organized by Slow Food Gorgonzola and ONAF Milan, ranking 1st among blue cheeses made from sheep's milk and 11th place in the national ranking.

May 13th. De' Magi present at Medoliva, Fair of quality extra virgin olive oil from the Mediterranean and its supply chain, Arezzo. The refined cheeses are presented: L'Ulivastro, L'Affienato, L'Erborinato and Crosta d'Oro.

March 21st. De' Magi cheeses participate in the 4th San Lucio National Trophy Cheese Competition in Pandino, in the province of Cremona. The Crosta d'Oro cheese ranks fourth and L'Affienato ranks third in the 'flavoured cheeses' category. De' Magi rightfully wins registration in the event's Roll of Honor. There were 150 cheeses entered in the competition.

March. New Corporate Identity. The De' Magi brand is born.


March 22. Isola del Gusto: great event with the presentation of new cheeses.
